La Fermette Henriette was born from a dream in the Netherlands. Henk, born in 1960 and a builder by trade, and his partner Esther, a farrier and florist, shared a deep passion for animals and outdoor life. They dreamed of a place where horses, open space and peace could come together — a livery stable in the Netherlands turned out to be financially out of reach. So they packed their bags and headed to the Berry, in the heart of France.
It wasn’t always easy. But the first gîtes are here, and they are something to be proud of.
Esther was the driving force behind much of what you see and feel here. She is no longer with us, but her spirit lives on in this domain. Henk continues the dream — with the same warmth, the same love for animals and the same conviction that a stay here should be something special.
What makes La Fermette Henriette different? You can bring your dogs — even if you have more than two. There are horses to ride. Fresh eggs, vegetables and fruit from the garden (seasonal). And if you want a day out without your dog, we’ll take care of them.
The estate is home to various animals. We do ask that your dog is sociable — contact can be avoided thanks to the fencing, but they will be able to see each other.
Welcome to La Fermette Henriette. Welcome to Henk’s.
